At Olsen Doors and Windows we offer a number of door and window solutions and with lift and slide doors we have 3 systems that each has it’s own uniqueness that can be designed to suit your project requirements using the range of standard frame sections available.

As SWS (Scandinavian Window Systems, our former company) we had a lift and slide product branded purely as the ‘Olsen lift and slide door’, but since the change in our business strategy and range we now have 3 types of lift and slide doors available.

We now brand our overall comprehensive range of lift and slide doors to the well known ‘Olsen’ brand. The Natre Lift and Slide door is in fact the same as the original door we used to call the ‘Olsen’, so I you need to match an original door, or simply wish to use the original system, you can.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ON ALL SYSTEMS IN TIMBER WE NO LONGER OFFER THE CORNER DOOR (WITH MOVING CORNER POST). IN SLIDING DOORS THIS IS NOW ONLY AVAILABLE AS AN ALL ALUMINIUM SVG DOOR FROM THE SUNFLEX RANGE OR AS ALUMINIUM OR TIMBER VERSION FROM THE SUNFLEX FOLDING SLIDING DOOR RANGE.

The Natre lift and slide door lift and slide product and can be supplied in a number of configurations and finishes, with sizes ranging from 1588mm – 4988mm width (in 2 panels) and up to 2488mm in height; multiples onwards for larger doors with more panels.

Most systems are available as all timber and also Alu-clad timber:-

Types
1 Panel - Matching fixed panel
2 panels - 1 fixed, 1 sliding
3 panels – 1 sliding (on one end) and 2 fixed (supplied in 1 frame)
3 panels – 1 sliding in centre and fixed either side
4 panels – 2 centre panels slide apart behind 2 outer fixed panels
4 panels – end 2 panels slide into the centre giving an opening at each end

Function
lift & slide action, operated by the door handle, allows the sliding leaf to drop a few millimetres in the closed position, compressing the weather-seals, and engaging the door into 4 locking points around the frame, for high security and draught-proofing. An internal cylinder lock provides added security. There is a secure ventilation position, and the door can also be lowered at any point along its track to prevent it from moving whilst open.
When the sash is lifted, the seals disengage with the frame allowing a smooth friction free operation, even on large doors.

Domestic and project
The Natre lift & slide door can be used in a wide variety of applications to give wide access to gardens, decks and patios in summer, and to open up a room to bring daylight in whilst keeping the weather and intruders out. Widely used in hospital, schools, nurseries, day care centres, visitor centres etc, as well as luxury houses and apartments.

This version lift and slide door is externally beaded and therefore compliments projects alongside the H Timber window as these equally are externally beaded and are made with similar profiles.

Finish as delivered
Frames are supplied pre-assembled, and finished with a 2 coat (1 x base + 1 x top) factory coating from a wide range of stains or paints. It is also possible to have a 2 colour system with a different finish from inside to outside, meaning that a clear lacquer could be used internally if you wanted to appreciate that natural beauty of the timber without any additional colouring. Please note that with 2 colour only a paint and a stain or a paint and clear lacquer can be combined. A Combination of stain and clear lacquer is NOT possible.

All paints and stains that we are using are water based micro-porous products from Teknos. Click on the information TAB and then finishes at the top of the page to view a sample of the range available. Actual timber samples are sent out upon receipt of order to help assist in the correct colour choice for your project. Factory applied paint finishes from the RAL classic range (approx 250 colours), or the NCS range (approx 2000 colours).

Glazing
All Natre products are Externally beaded, and in most cases doors are supplied with glass for site glazing, due to weight and handling purposes. Glass is usually temporarily beaded in to the frame for safe transport purposes, but may also be supplied on a separate delivery from a UK glass supplier. Please contact us if you require or prefer a specific method and your quote will be tailored to suit.

Double-glazed units 4–20-4mm with soft-coat low-e and Argon gas filling come as standard with a centre-pane u-value of 1.0 – 1.2W/m2K (depending on origin). Safety glass is always used in the form of either toughened or laminated for enhanced safety and security.

Glazing
All Natre products are externally beaded with a drained and ventilated design to ensure maximum life expectancy. In most cases doors are supplied with glass for site glazing, due to weight and handling purposes. Glass is usually temporarily beaded in to the frame for safe transport purposes, but may also be supplied on a separate delivery from a UK glass supplier. Please contact us if you require or prefer a specific method and your quote will be tailored to suit.

Double-glazed units 4–16-4mm with soft-coat low-e and Argon gas filling come as standard with a centre-pane u-value of 1.1W/m2K. Where safety glass is required the panes can simply become toughened, or a laminated pane could be added for enhanced safety and security.

Triple-glazed units 4-12-4-12-4mm with 2 x soft-coat low-e and argon gas filling is optional to provide a centre-pane u-value of 0.7.

In addition, specialist glazed units incorporating acoustic, solar control and self-cleaning are available, as well as integral blinds, sandblasted or decorative obscure glass for extra privacy.

Glazing bars
There are 2 main kinds of glazing bars to the system, structural and decorative.

Structural bars know as transoms (horizontal) or mullions (vertical) are use to separate 2 pieces of glass in either a fixed or an opening light, and also as the structural element between an opener and a fixed when built into 1 frame.

When dividing 2 pieces of glass the transom or mullion is 54, 68 or 78mm, and when as a structural element between an opener and a fixed is 78mm.

Multiple transoms and mullions can be built into 1 frame to create multiple-pane effects to your design requirements, as can decorative glazing bars….

Decorative glazing bars are a thinner more elegant solution to those who wish to create a more traditional appearance to their windows and doors. This option includes a 24mm timber glazing bar that is clipped onto the outer face of the glass unit only. The glazing bars are easily removable so that when it comes to cleaning the outside face of the windows, the bars are unclipped (as one) and you clean 1 glass face, rather than multiple.

Please note that doors supplied with decorative glazing bars must be supplied with glazing fitted at the factory so you must ensure you have adequate handling equipment on site for these weights (please refer to your quotation for the weights of the units).
