At Olsen Doors and Windows we offer a number of door and window solutions and with lift and slide doors we have 3 systems that each has it’s own uniqueness that can be designed to suit your project requirements using the range of standard frame sections available.

As SWS (Scandinavian Window Systems, our former company) we had a lift and slide product branded purely as the Olsen lift and slide door, but since the change in our business strategy and range we now have 3 types of lift and slide doors so we refer to them by the manufacturers names.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ON ALL SYSTEMS IN TIMBER WE NO LONGER OFFER THE CORNER DOOR (WITH MOVING CORNER POST). IN SLIDING DOORS THIS IS NOW ONLY AVAILABLE AS AN ALL ALUMINIUM SVG DOOR FROM THE SUNFLEX RANGE OR AS ALUMINIUM OR TIMBER VERSION FROM THE SUNFLEX FOLDING SLIDING DOOR RANGE.

The Hajom lift and slide door is the more expensive version of the lift and slide doors, but this is not without just cause. The unique profile design of this door gives the sliding sash a larger sightline than the fixed panel which is direct glazed into the outer frame, creating a modern eccentric appearance that is sought after by many.

This combined with over 35 years experience in manufacturing windows and doors and a highly sophisticated production line, and of course without saying a truly beautifully finished product, still proves to be the 1st choice in lift and slide doors.

The system can be supplied in a number of configurations and finishes, with sizes ranging from 1600mm – 5500mm width (in 2 panels) and up to 2600mm in height; multiples onwards for larger doors with more panels. Most systems are available as all timber and also Alu-clad timber:-

Types
Type F: 1 Panel - Matching fixed panel

Type A: 2 panels - 1 fixed, 1 sliding

Type B: 2 panels – 1 sliding into pocket BEHIND a wall

Type A1: 3 panels – 1 sliding (on one end) and 2 fixed (Fixed sash made wider and vertical mullion added)
Type A+F: 3 panels – 1 sliding in centre and fixed either side (made by connecting a 2 panel and a 1 panel)

Type C: 4 panels – 2 centre panels slide apart behind 2 outer fixed panels

Type M: 4 panels – end 2 panels slide into the centre giving an opening at each end

Type P: 4 panels - 2 centre panels slide apart behind a wall to either 1 or both sides

Specialised screens can also be designed to suit your needs and standard options including strengthened / structural supporting mid-posts, or even steel enforced mid-posts, can be accommodated to help create large areas of glazing; a couple of examples shown below:

Lower height frames can be used for sliding windows, and there are even solutions to add a sliding insect screen profile onto the outer part of the frame.

Function
lift & slide action, operated by the door handle, allows the sliding leaf to drop a few millimetres in the closed position, compressing the weather-seals, and engaging the door into 4 locking points around the frame, for high security and draught-proofing. An internal cylinder lock provides added security. There is a secure ventilation position, and the door can also be lowered at any point along its track to prevent it from moving whilst open.
When the sash is lifted, the seals disengage with the frame allowing a smooth friction free operation, even on large doors.

Domestic and project
The Hajom lift & slide door can be used in a wide variety of applications to give wide access to gardens, decks and patios in summer, and to open up a room to bring daylight in whilst keeping the weather and intruders out. Widely used in hospital, schools, nurseries, day care centres, visitor centres etc, as well as luxury houses and apartments.

This version lift and slide door is Externally beaded and therefore compliments projects alongside the Combi Timber and the H all timber systems as these equally are externally beaded with drained and ventilated profiles.

Finish as delivered
Frames are supplied pre-assembled, and beautifully finished with a full factory coating from a wide range of stains or paints. It is also possible to have a 2 colour system with a different finish from inside to outside, meaning that a clear lacquer could be used internally if you wanted to appreciate that natural beauty of the timber without any additional colouring.

All paints and stains that we are using are water based micro-porous products from Teknos. Click on the Technical TAB and then finishes at the top of the page to view a sample of the range available. Actual timber samples are sent out upon receipt of order to help assist in the correct colour choice for your project. Factory applied paint finishes from the RAL classic range (approx 250 colours), or the NCS range (approx 2000 colours).

Glazing
All Hajoms products are externally beaded, and in most cases doors are supplied unglazed to site with glass supplied separate for site glazing, due to weight and handling purposes. Glass may be supplied alongside with the door or in some cases from a UK glass supplier.

Double-glazed units 4–20-4mm with soft-coat low-e and Argon gas filling come as standard with a centre-pane u-value of 1.0 – 1.2W/m2K (depending on origin). 36mm triple-glazed units with 2 x soft-coat low-e coatings and double argon gas filled spacers are optional with a centre-pane u-value of 0.7W/mK. Safety glass is always used in the form of either toughened or laminated for enhanced safety and security.

Glazing bars
There are 2 main kinds of glazing bars to the system, structural and decorative.

Structural bars know as transoms (horizontal) or mullions (vertical) are use to separate 2 pieces of glass in either the fixed or sliding sash.

When dividing 2 pieces of glass the transom or mullion is 78 or 98mm. When adding a transom or a mullion the split areas can be filled with both glazing and insulated panels.

Multiple transoms and mullions can be built into 1 frame to create multiple-pane effects to your design requirements, as can decorative glazing bars….

Decorative glazing bars are a thinner more elegant solution to those who wish to create a more traditional appearance to their windows and doors. This option includes a detachable 24mm timber glazing bar externally. This gives the appearance of many different panes, but when it comes to cleaning the whole glazing bars can be detached as a single unit.

Please note that it is recommended that doors supplied with decorative glazing bars are supplied with glazing fitted at the factory so you must ensure you have adequate handling equipment on site for these weights (please refer to your quotation for the weights of the units).
