At Olsen Doors and Windows we offer a number of door and window solutions and with lift and slide doors we have 3 systems that each has it’s own uniqueness that can be designed to suit your project requirements using the range of standard frame sections available.
As SWS (Scandinavian Window Systems, our former company) we had a lift and slide product branded purely as the Olsen lift and slide door, but since the change in our business strategy and range we now have 3 types of lift and slide doors so we refer to them by the manufacturers names.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ON ALL SYSTEMS IN TIMBER WE NO LONGER OFFER THE CORNER DOOR (WITH MOVING CORNER POST). IN SLIDING DOORS THIS IS NOW ONLY AVAILABLE AS AN ALL ALUMINIUM SVG DOOR FROM THE SUNFLEX RANGE OR AS ALUMINIUM OR TIMBER VERSION FROM THE SUNFLEX FOLDING SLIDING DOOR RANGE.
The Sokolka lift and slide door is the best priced lift and slide product and can be supplied in a number of configurations and finishes, with sizes ranging from 1600mm – 5500mm width (in 2 panels) and up to 2800mm in height; multiples onwards for larger doors with more panels.
Recently this range has been upgraded to offer matching profiles to the tilt and turn range of windows, and we can therefore offer a STYLE 68 and STYLE 68 Alu, which is the double-glazed version in both timber and Alu-Clad, and then also THERMO 80 and THERMO 80 ALU which is the triple-glazed version in timber or Alu-Clad.
Most systems are available as all timber and also Alu-clad timber:-

Function
lift & slide action, operated by the door handle, allows the sliding leaf to drop a few millimetres in the closed position, compressing the weather-seals, and engaging the door into 4 locking points around the frame, for high security and draught-proofing. An internal cylinder lock provides added security. There is a secure ventilation position, and the door can also be lowered at any point along its track to prevent it from moving whilst open.
When the sash is lifted, the seals disengage with the frame allowing a smooth friction free operation, even on large doors.
Domestic and project
The Sokolka lift & slide door can be used in a wide variety of applications to give wide access to gardens, decks and patios in summer, and to open up a room to bring daylight in whilst keeping the weather and intruders out. Widely used in hospital, schools, nurseries, day care centres, visitor centres etc, as well as luxury houses and apartments.
This version lift and slide door is internally beaded and therefore compliments projects alongside the Style 68, Thermo 80 and Elite 92 tilt and turn systems as these equally are internally beaded and are made with the same profiles.
Finish as delivered
Frames are supplied pre-assembled, and beautifully finished with a full factory coating from a wide range of stains or paints. It is also possible to have a 2 colour system with a different finish from inside to outside, meaning that a clear lacquer could be used internally if you wanted to appreciate that natural beauty of the timber without any additional colouring.
All paints and stains that we are using are water based micro-porous products from Akzo-Nobel. Click on the information TAB and then finishes at the top of the page to view a sample of the range available. Actual timber samples are sent out upon receipt of order to help assist in the correct colour choice for your project. Factory applied paint finishes from the RAL classic range (approx 250 colours), or the NCS range (approx 2000 colours).
Glazing
All Sokolka products are internally beaded, and in most cases doors are supplied with glass for site glazing, due to weight and handling purposes. Glass is usually temporarily beaded in to the frame for safe transport purposes, but may also be supplied on a seperate delivery from a UK glass supplier. Please contact us if you require or prefer a specific method and your quote will be tailored to suit.
Double-glazed units 4–20-4mm with soft-coat low-e and Argon gas filling come as standard with a centre-pane u-value of 1.0 – 1.2W/m2K (depending on origin). Safety glass is always used in the form of either toughened or laminated for enhanced safety and security.
Glazing bars
There are 2 main kinds of glazing bars to the system, structural and decorative.
Structural bars know as transoms (horizontal) or mullions (vertical) are use to separate 2 pieces of glass in either the fixed or sliding sash.
When dividing 2 pieces of glass the transom or mullion is 54, 78 or 130mm.
Multiple transoms and mullions can be built into 1 frame to create multiple-pane effects to your design requirements, as can decorative glazing bars….
Decorative glazing bars are a thinner more elegant solution to those who wish to create a more traditional appearance to their windows and doors. This option includes a 24mm timber glazing bar both internally and externally, with dummy spacer bars between the glass. This makes it look like all of the panes created are separated glazed units, as it would have been done traditionally on this design, but without the weakness’ that this creates.
Please note that doors supplied with decorative glazing bars must be supplied with glazing fitted at the factory so you must ensure you have adequate handling equipment on site for these weights (please refer to your quotation for the weights of the units).
