‘Elite 92’ is the step up in thermal and acoustic performance from the thermo 80, and is a range of timber inward opening tilt and turn windows designed a classic frame profile with 92mm depth. It is the added depth of the frame that allows for the use of triple-glazed units with optimum size spacer bars for improved thermal and acoustic performance. The actual elevation of the sightline of this version is exactly the same as the style 68 / Thermo 80 window, so if special thermal or acoustic requirements are required to only part of a building, then the variations in this system can be supplied side-by side without looking different!

‘Domestic’ and ‘project’
The multiple functions of the ‘Elite 92’, tilt and turn window, makes it a very popular choice on many projects for commercial, residential and domestic use. With enhanced security options (soon to provide compliance to Secured by Design), to many optional accessories for safety or comfort, this system caters for the whole market, and is available at a very competitive price.

If you are still in search of a higher insulated product, possibly for Passive-haus compliance then please see the gold-plus.

All of these Varieties are also available as Alu-clad, or as 2+1 or 3+1 in alu-clad (see the alu/wood section).

Function
The timber version of the tilt & turn window is available with a tilt first or turn first option. Tilt first is the standard for UK production, but wither option can be chosen:

Turn First
A 90° turn of the handle allows the window to operate as a side-hung inward opening casement, to allow the window to be safely and easily cleaned from the inside.

Closing the casement and turning the handle by a further 90° operates the bottom hung, inward opening, 'tilt' function. This ventilation position is controlled by a restrictor arm built into the head of the frame that has multiple positions for varied amounts of ventilation, and cannot be accessed from the outside, thus offering secure ventilation.

Tilt First
This option allows to the window to be opened in tilt mode in the first turn of the handle rather than the second. Using this option gives the flexibility to use additional devices such as 'caretaker handles'; these will restrict the window to tilt mode only for ventilation, unless a key is inserted into the handle. This means that for safety or security, only authorised persons who have the key can access the turn mode for cleaning.

Finish as delivered
Frames are supplied pre-assembled, pre-glazed and beautifully finished with a full factory coating from a wide range of stains or paints. It is also possible to have a 2 colour system with a different finish from inside to outside, meaning that a clear lacquer could be used internally if you wanted to appreciate that natural beauty of the timber without any additional colouring.

All paints and stains that we are using are water based micro-porous products from Teknos. Click on the information TAB and then finishes at the top of the page to view a sample of the range available. Actual timber samples are sent out upon receipt of order to help assist in the correct colour choice for your project. Factory applied paint finishes from the RAL classic range (approx 250 colours), or the NCS range (approx 2000 colours).

Glazing
All Elite 92 products are internally beaded with secret nailing

36mm Triple-glazed units 4-12-4-12-4mm with 2 x soft-coat low-e and argon gas filling x 3 can be supplied with a centre-pane u-value of 0.7W/m2K (overall glass and frame U-value - 0.94W/m2K).

44mm Triple-glazed units 4-16-4-16-4mm with 2 x soft-coat low-e and argon gas filling x 3 can be supplied with a centre-pane u-value of 0.6W/m2K (overall glass and frame U-value - 0.86W/m2K).

Where safety glass is required the panes can simply become toughened, or a laminated pane could be added for enhanced safety and security.

In addition, specialist glazed units incorporating acoustic, solar control and self-cleaning are available, as well as sandblasted or decorative obscure glass for extra privacy.

Glazing bars
There are 2 main kinds of glazing bars to the system, structural and decorative.

Structural bars know as transoms (horizontal) or mullions (vertical) are use to separate 2 pieces of glass in either a fixed or an opening light, and also as the structural element between an opener and a fixed when built into 1 frame.

When dividing 2 pieces of glass the transom or mullion can be 66mm, 80mm or 126mm and when as a structural element between an opener and a fixed can be 110mm, or 124mm.

Multiple transoms and mullions can be built into 1 frame to create multiple-pane effects to your design requirements, as can decorative glazing bars….

Decorative glazing bars are a thinner more elegant solution to those who wish to create a more traditional appearance to their windows and doors. This option includes a 24mm timber glazing bar both internally and externally, with dummy spacer bars between the glass. This makes it look like all of the panes created are separated glazed units, as it would have been done traditionally on this design, but without the weakness’ that this creates.
