• Inward and outward opening Balcony and entrance doors

Opening lights and fixed lights can be built in one frame with endless design possibilities.

Glazing

Scandia Alu products are triple glazed units. As standard the units are 4-12-4-16-4mm (4mm pane of glass, 12mm gas cavity, 4mm pane of glass, 16mm gas cavity and a last 4mm pane of glass) with an Argon gas filling which gives an overall U-value of 0.97W/m2K. The difference in the depth of gas cavaities, 12mm and 16mm, gives the Scandia Window great acoustic insulation.

The windows are externally beaded by secret nailing, with a drained and ventilated design to ensure maximum life expectancy.

Where safety glass is required the panes can simply become toughened, or a laminated pane can be added for enhanced security.

Specialist glazed units incorporating acoustic, solar control and self cleaning glass options are available as well as sandblasted or decorative obscure glass for extra privacy.

Glazing Bars

There are two main kinds of glazing bars to this system, structural and decorative.

Structural bars known as transoms (horizontal) and mullions (vertical) are used to separate 2 pieces of glass in either a fixed or an opening light and also as the structural element between an opener and a fixed when built into 1 frame. When dividing 2 pieces of glass the transom or mullion is 75mm wide. Multiple transoms and mullions can be built into 1 frame to create multiple pane effects to your design requirements, as can decorative glazing bars.

Decorative glazing bars are a thinner more elegant solution to those who wish to create a more traditional appearance to their windows and doors. This option includes a timber glazing bar both internally and externally with dummy spacer bars between the glass panes. This makes it look like all of the panes created are separated glazed units, as it would have been done traditionally on the design, but without the weakness’ that this creates.

Finish

All timber is finished with a choice of a stains or paints. Paint choices are from the RAL Classic range (approx. 250 colours).

All paints and stains that are used are water based, micro-porous products. Actual timber samples are sent out upon receipt of order to help assist in the correct colour choice for your project.

It is possible to have a 2 colour system with a different finish from inside to outside, meaning that a solid paint can be used externally and a clear lacquer could be used internally if you wanted to appreciate that natural beauty of the timber without any additional colouring.
