Products from Scandinavian Windows

SWS was launched in 1992 by my father, John Simpson, and started as a small family business run from a small office with my mother.

John has been importing windows and doors from Scandinavia for over 30 years, and was in fact one of the first independent importers for double and triple-glazed, high performance laminated timber windows and doors to the UK.

The reputation grew quick, as architects, developers and members of the public picked up on the fantastic quality and range of products that were available, and they loved the simple, yet sophisticated techniques used in Scandinavia to make softwood windows and doors a long lasting durable solution (at this point softwood was considered more of a cheaper short term solution, known widely for rotting at the joints and sealed units breaking down regularly – as still is the case with some products on the market).

The introduction of a superb sliding door that lifts and slides huge areas of glazing with complete ease of use, with superb weather-sealing and acoustic properties, soon secured the interest of many, and quickly the word spread of our solutions and the high level of personal customer service and attention that was given and applied to each project.

In 1996 I joined the family business and set off to live in Sweden, to learn how to make windows and doors, and worked in the factories for a number or months gaining experience and understanding in the systems available.

We developed web-sites and grew the knowledge within the market with architects, specifiers and building contractors, who worked with us repeatedly, and we supplied to many prestigious projects across the UK (and the world), including 3 buildings at the Eden Project in Cornwall, award winning landmark projects, visitor centres, luxury houses and many schools and public buildings with renowned county architects such as Hampshire county council, Devon county council etc etc.

To cut a long story short, over 13 years later in March 2009 we had to make a very hard decision to put the company into voluntary liquidation due to factors mainly driven by the downturn in the economy and the effect that it had on the construction industry, and many of the long term projects we were involved with.

Olsen Doors and windows is now a re-structured, reduced size organisation to cope with the change in market, but we have the same, and more, high capacity suppliers that can handle and control orders and projects of all scales.

We are committed to providing the very best level and attention to each and every project through to successfull completion, and continue to work with a personal approach as a family run organisation.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss our products
